Sono, infatti, una delle meraviglie italiane più conosciute ed apprezzate, tanto da richiamare ogni anno migliaia di turisti da tutto il mondo. Per merito della loro maestosa bellezza, nel 2009 sono state dichiarate Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Unesco.

Dove si trovano le tre Cime di Lavaredo?

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Questa domanda, all’apparenza così banale, ha in realtà una doppia risposta e non è raro che la questione sfoci in dibattiti più o meno accesi sull’appartenenza di queste straordinarie montagne.
Le Tre Cime di Lavaredo fanno parte delle Dolomiti di Sesto e si trovano proprio al confine tra Alto Adige e Veneto.
Il versante nord si trova in provincia di Bolzano ed è forse quello più noto, ovvero la classica vista con le tre vette, che tutti noi almeno una volta nella vita abbiamo ammirato, se non dal vivo, su qualche cartolina o calendario, o magari durante un documentario sulle bellezze italiane.

Dal Rifugio Auronzo verso le Tre Cime di Lavaredo

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Come anticipato, il percorso più noto è quello che inizia dal “lato Veneto”, ovvero dal rifugio Auronzo. Si tratta di un percorso ad anello lungo 9,5 km, percorribile in poco più di tre ore. È un percorso poco faticoso e con pochissimo dislivello, adatto anche alle famiglie con bambini.

Il rifugio Auronzo è situato a 2326 metri di quota e dista 7 km da Misurina. Da qui si gode della splendida vista sulle Tre Cime, ma non solo, è infatti possibile ammirare anche i Cadini di Misurina, il Monte Cristallo, la Croda dei Toni, la Val d’Ansiei e il lago di Misurina. È il punto di partenza del nostro itinerario attorno alle Tre Cime di Lavaredo e di altri percorsi, ad esempio l’Alta Via n.4 e la Via ferrata De Luca-Innerkofler.

È possibile raggiungere il rifugio in auto, ma il pedaggio non è affatto economico. La tariffa, che comprende strada e parcheggio costa 30 € per le auto, 20 € per le moto, 45 € per i camper.
Il nostro consiglio è quello di raggiungere il rifugio Auronzo con i mezzi pubblici, è la soluzione più pratica per evitare il traffico e la più sostenibile per l’ambiente. È disponibile un servizio di bus di linea che parte da Misurina, Auronzo di Cadore o Dobbiaco. Segnaliamo che la strada è chiusa al traffico nei mesi freddi. Prima di mettervi in viaggio vi consigliamo dunque di contattare il Consorzio turistico delle Tre Cime (Tel.: 0435 99603)

Una volta raggiunto il rifugio Auronzo in auto, in bus, o per gli escursionisti più coraggiosi, a piedi, si imbocca il sentiero 101, che conduce al Rifugio Lavaredo.
Arrivati al Rifugio Lavaredo, mantenendo il sentiero, si sale verso Forcella Lavaredo, da cui proseguire in direzione del Rifugio Locatelli, a quota 2405.
Da qui è possibile ammirare la splendida vista della parete nord delle Tre Cime, per poi proseguire verso ovest, imboccando il sentiero 105 che passando per Malga Lang Alm, riporta al punto di partenza.

I colori delle Tre Cime di Lavaredo

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Il fascino delle Tre Cime è anche merito degli spettacolari giochi di colore, la così detta enrosadira.

L’enrosadira è il fenomeno per cui la maggior parte delle cime delle Dolomiti assume un colore rossastro, che passa gradatamente al viola, soprattutto all’alba e al tramonto.

Questo fenomeno è ben visibile nelle sere d’estate, quando l’aria è particolarmente limpida e i crepuscoli sono più lunghi. Il fenomeno dell’enrosadira può manifestarsi in modo diverso nei vari periodi dell’anno, e può variare sensibilmente tra un giorno e l’altro in funzione dei fenomeni meteorologici. La tinta assunta dalle cime delle montagne varia dal rosa all’arancione, fino al viola. Queste variazioni di tinte e durata dell’enrosadira, sono quindi dovute alle diverse posizioni del sole durante l’anno e alle condizioni dell’atmosfera. Tale fenomeno si manifesta su tutte le Dolomiti. Il fenomeno è incrementato dalla riflettività delle pareti rocciose delle Dolomiti, formate dalla dolomia contenente dolomite, un composto di carbonato di calcio e magnesio.

La bellezza delle Tre Cime non si spegne nemmeno sotto la pioggia, in cui dominano diverse sfumature di grigio, donando alle montagne grande fascino e fredda eleganza.

La Grande Guerra

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Tra il 1915 e il 1918 la zona delle Tre Cime, che costituiva il vecchio confine di stato, si trasformò tristemente in un crudele teatro di guerra, in cui si combatterono i Kaiserjäger austriaci e gli alpini italiani. Le prime scalate

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Il primo alpinista a conquistare le Tre Cime fu un austriaco, Paul Grohmann, il quale dopo aver scalato altre vette delle Dolomiti, fu stregato dall’audacia della loro particolare architettura e decise di tentare l’impresa insieme alle guide locali Franz Innerkofler e Peter Salcher. Nell’agosto del 1869 riuscirono nell’impresa, conquistando la Cima Grande in meno di 3 ore.
Qualche anno più tardi, nel 1874, la giovane ventunenne Anna Ploner fu la prima donna ad intraprendere la scalata della Cima Grande, guidata dalle guide alpine Michl Innerkofler e Luigi Orsolina.
La Cima Ovest, meno ambita perché meno alta della Grande, fu scalata per la prima volta da Michel Innerkofler (parente di Franz Innerkofler) e Georg Ploner nel 1879.

Le prime riprese

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]La prima volta, in cui le Tre Cime di Lavaredo furono filmate, risale al 1907, anno in cui l’inglese Frank Ormiston-Smith, già noto per aver girato l’ascensione del Monte Bianco quattro anni prima, fu inviato per realizzare delle riprese, attraverso una macchina da presa costruita per l’occasione.

Tre Cime, comparse d’eccezione

Il fascino delle Tre Cime ha conquistato anche Chris Martin, frontman dei Coldplay. Nel video del brano “Up&Up” del 2016 i componenti della band britannica suonano come giganti tra alcuni dei più suggestivi paesaggi del mondo raffigurati in miniatura, tra cui, appunto, le nostre Tre Cime.

Sul Grande Schermo
Le Tre Cime di Lavaredo hanno fatto da sfondo ad una battaglia tra navicelle spaziali. Nel 2017, infatti, le Dolomiti sono state protagoniste di una scena dell’iconica saga Star Wars – Gli ultimi Jedi.

Where are the Tre Cime di Lavaredo located?

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]Although it sounds like an easy question, there are actually two answers and their exact location is often the subject of some debate about who in fact owns these extraordinary peaks.

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo are part of the Sesto Dolomites and are located right on the border between the two Italian regions: Alto Adige and Veneto.

The north side is located in the province of Bolzano (Alto Adige) and it is probably the most famous view, being the classic view with the three peaks, which many have admired at least once in lives life, if not first hand, then at least on a postcard or calendar, or maybe during a documentary about Italian natural wonders.

The southern aspect, however, is located in the province of Belluno (Veneto). From the Auronzo Hut to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]As mentioned, the best-known walk is the one that starts from the “Veneto side”, and more precisely, from the Auronzo Hut. This is a 9.5 km-long circular walk which can be completed in just over three hours. The path is not very difficult, and there is very little altitude gain, meaning it’s also suitable for families with kids.

The Auronzo Hut is located at 2326 meters above sea level and is 7 km from Misurina. From here you can enjoy the amazing view of the Tre Cime, but not only: it’s also possible to admire stunning views of the Cadini di Misurina, Monte Cristallo, Croda dei Toni, Val d’Ansiei and the Misurina Lake. It’s the starting point of our walk around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and also for other routes, such as “Alta Via No. 4” long-distance trail and the “Via Ferrata De Luca-Innerkofler”.

The hut can be reached by car, up a very expensive toll road. The toll, which includes road and parking, costs € 30 for cars, € 20 for motorbikes, € 45 for campers.

Our advice is to reach the Auronzo Hut using public transport; it’s the most practical solution to avoid traffic and the most sustainable for the environment. There is are buses that depart from Misurina, Auronzo di Cadore or Dobbiaco.

Be aware that the road is closed to traffic during the colder months. Before traveling, we strongly recommend you contact the Tre Cime Tourist Office (Tel .: +39 0435 99603)

Once you reach the Auronzo Hut by car, bus – or on foot if you’re a particularly fit hiker – take path 101, which leads to the Lavaredo Hut.

Once at the Lavaredo Hut, keep on the path and head up towards Forcella Lavaredo. Continue on from here towards the Locatelli Hut, located at an altitude of 2405 meters.

From here you can admire the truly stunning and most iconic views of the north side of the Tre Cime. Then continue on westward, taking path 105, which passes Malga Lang Alm and leads you back to the starting point.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Information about the walk

World War I

The first climbs

[/dfd_heading][ultimate_spacer height=”25″ height_on_tabs=”25″ height_on_mob=”25″][vc_column_text]The first man to conquer the highest of the Tre Cime’s peaks – Cima Grande – was the Austrian mountaineer Paul Grohmann, who had already scaled many other peaks in the Dolomites. Enchanted by the audacity of their unique architecture, he decided to attempt the climb together with local guides Franz Innerkofler and Peter Salcher. In August 1869 they succeeded, reaching the summit in less than 3 hours.

A few years later, in 1874, the young 21-year-old Anna Ploner became the first woman to reach the summit of the Cima Grande, led by the mountain guides Michel Innerkofler and Luigi Orsolina.

Cima Ovest, considered a lesser objective because it was lower than the Cima Grande, was first climbed by Michel Innerkofler (a relative of Franz Innerkofler) and Georg Ploner in 1879.

The charm of the Three Peaks also won over Chris Martin, Coldplay frontman. In the music video “Up & Up”, released in 2016, the members of the British band can be seen performing like giants surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world represented in miniature, including Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

On the Big Screen

The Tre Cime have also been used as the backdrop to a battle between spaceships. In 2017 the Dolomites were used to as the setting for a scene in the iconic Star Wars saga. They also appeared in the thirteenth episode of the first season of the Marvel series Agents of S.I.E.L.D. and in the video game Far Cry Primal.

Indeed, the iconic profile of the Tre Cime served as the inspiration for the stylised ‘M’ we use in our Marsupio logo. We’ve always had a strong affinity for nature and close ties to our land, and so we could not fail to pay homage to one of our region’s greatest natural wonders.
